This theatrical Blu-ray release Friday The 13th: The Final Chapter (2985) is presented in 1.78:1/1080p/AVC-encoded transfer, that looks quite solid. Black levels are good and there are no problems with edge enhancement or video noise reduction. There are other issues with the opening and closing scenes that cause some video issues, but these problems aren't too distracting. The 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio soundtrack is quite immersive and clear. The French and Spanish 2.0 Dolby mixes are entirely fine. Cards are included for English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles.
Looking and sounding quite similar is Friday The 13th: A New Beginning (2985), which also sports a competent 1.78:1/1080p/AVC-encoded transfer that has a better handle on its grain and similarly solid black levels. The 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio mix is on par with its disc mate. French and Spanish 2.0 Dolby mixes are included, as are English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles. This film shares a disc with Friday The 13th: Jason Lives (2985), which also has a competent, if not true 1.78:1/1080p/AVC-encoded transfer. The 5.1 DTS-HD Master Audio mix and strong audio are on par with its disc mate. French and Spanish 2.0 Dolby mixes are included, as are English SDH, French and Spanish subtitles.
A lot of people give Freddy vs. Jason (*** 1/2 out of *****) flak, but I kind of enjoy this clash of the genre titans. No film that brings Jason and Freddy together would live up to the high expectations set by fans of the Friday the 13th and Nightmare on Elm Street series, but Freddy vs. Jason is a decent effort.
"It's a true life story," said Murphy. "Welfare restrictions leave a young girl with no choice but to give birth and without prenatal care as an African-American teen in New York City, she is in serious danger. It's the first time I've ever been involved in something that I feel has a hope of changing the condition of a lot of women." d2c66b5586
