Starting from version 2.0.3, kon-boot is able to set bootmgr in memory. This option is enabled by default. The advantage of this mode is that the target machine is able to boot from the flash drive without moving it.

Connect USB flash drive to your Windows 10 system. Then extract the kon-boot v2.5 full installer file from your flash drive. Then insert your Windows 10 system into the dell laptop and re-run the installer. For this step you need to have your Windows 10 system on the factory setting of Fast Boot mode.

After installing kon-boot in UEFI mode, the target system is booted and you want to add your personal user account as local administrator. Kon-boot must be started with elevated privilege, so you must use the command:

If user does not provide an account name, kon-boot will first ask for user account name, then it will ask for user account password. If user enters a wrong password, kon-boot will change the account to disabled. If user enters right password, kon-boot will change the account to enabled. If user does not enter a password, the account will be enabled and user will be asked to login to the newly created account.

Note: If user enters default user account or does not provide user account name and password, kon-boot will not be able to access the target system. The only way that kon-boot can access the target system is if user uses elevated user account (like Administrator, Local Administrator or local System account). If user has not elevated privilege, kon-boot will not be able to access the target system.

kon-boot --run=elevated --elevate --elevate-script=yourscriptname

If user does not provide a script name, kon-boot will use the script name that it gets in the path of the executable. If no script is given, user will get a pre-defined script and have the option to edit it.

Once the USB stick is ready to be used the user can choose what to do with the flash drive. He can either format it using kon-boot, kon-boot can then be used to install the ISO image on the flash drive, or the flash drive can be used as a live CD / DVD or a live USB stick. 827ec27edc
